The skin is a filter between the inner and outer worlds of the body. Detox baths are an inexpensive and effective method of cleansing and helping the body rid itself of toxins.
Using hot water is considered most effective since the heat and steam increase the sweat and open the pores, allowing toxic sweat to readily exit the skin. (Of course, if you are ill, or have high blood pressure or experience dizziness, nausea, or weakness due to hot water, you would adjust the temperature or get out of the bath immediately. Use common sense and consult a physician if necessary.)
Types of Detox Baths:
Epsom Salts: This is a great bath to relax tired muscles and to detox the body. The magnesium content helps relax muscles while the sulfur component aids in detoxing. The recommended amount to use in an average tub varies, but most recommend a half-gallon box of Epsom Salts to a tub of water.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Vinegar helps increase blood supply to the skin. Raw apple cider vinegar is recommended (not distilled, white vinegar). Use 1/4 cup to 1 cup per bath.
Baking Soda: This helps restore the acid/alkaline balance of the skin. A baking soda bath is very helpful in healing skin irritations or drying any rash. Use 8 ounces of baking soda per bath.
Ginger Root: Ginger helps stimulate the body to sweat and draws toxins to the skin’s surface. Use a half-inch of fresh ginger root (usually found in the produce aisle). Place the root in a pan of about 2 cups of water and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and steep for 30 minutes; remove the root and pour the liquid into the bath water.
Herbal Tea: Particularly effective in the bath are catnip, peppermint, chamomile, horsetail, and yarrow. Use one cup of the brewed tea per tub of water. Generally use only one herb at a time. Each herb can be researched for its healing and stimulating properties.
Oatmeal: This is a wonderful bath for any type of skin irritation (insect bites, poison ivy) since it soothes the skin. Add a cup of oatmeal (flakes or ground) to your bath water.
You can take a detox bath 1-3 times per week or as needed. Before, during, or after the bath, drink 8 ounces of pure water to hydrate the body. Make this a soothing ritual that you enjoy. Light candles and relax!

Money is energy that has been directed by human thought and consciousness for thousands of years. Over time money has become associated more with power than with a divine connection. Because of this, it is often a source of conflict and strife. The greatest problems in most marriages involve money, and the greatest motivation for crime is money.
We have translated the symbol of money with a connection to power and scarcity which, in turn, drives negative thoughts and behaviors.
By reconnecting money with the power of the Divine and the metaphysics of abundance, we can alter our relationship not only to money but to each other.
The American dollar bill is laden with the symbolism of the sacred:
- Above the word “one” is the phrase “In God We Trust.”
- To the right is a circle with the American Eagle, the secular symbol of our nation.
- On the left is another circle with a pyramid and an eye replacing the point of the pyramid. This is called “The Eye of Horus” which in ancient Egyptian mythology was the “all-seeing eye of God.”
- Above the pyramid are the Latin words, “Annuit Coeptis” which means “He has favored our undertakings.”
- Below the pyramid are the Latin words, “Novus Ordo Seclorum,” or “New Order of the Ages.”
As you can see, every dollar bill that moves through our hands is sacred energy. An important step is to study your views and attitudes about money. The way you handle money is a mirror for the way you handle other forms of energy in your life. Your intentions and your integrity harness the energy of money.
Be sure to align money with your higher values, e.g., love, truth, honor, compassion. As you express the higher qualities you think more money will give you, radiating those qualities outward with your words, actions, and being, you will become magnetic to money and objects that are physical expressions of your new level of consciousness.

The Yin/Yang symbol is said to have been created by the followers of Lao Tzu who were known as Taoists. It expresses the concept of a universe that consists of two dominant forces–Yin and Yang–and reflects that these forces are in constant motion.
The wholeness of the Universe is symbolized by the circle. The color black reflects the Yin cycle–which refers to the night, the winter, feminine energy, and stillness. The color white reflects the Yang cycle–which refers to the daytime, the summer, masculine energy, and activity. The two are necessary for balance.
The essence of Yin and Yang is that we live in an ever-changing world and should go with the “flow” of change. Chinese sages also used the energy of Yang to represent heat and Yin to represent cold. Some interesting associations are:
YIN: Earth, Cold, Night, Winter, Passive, Softer, Flexible, Feminine
YANG: Heaven, Hot, Day, Summer, Active, Harder, Masculine.
Ancient Chinese medicine is based upon the concept of balancing Yin and Yang energy in the body. Feng Shui, the ancient philosophy of using natural elements and placement to balance energy in one’s environment, also involves the balance of Yin and Yang in addition to other applied principles.
In a future post, I will explore the application of Yin and Yang in ancient and modern society.
