Change Your Mind, Change Your Life!

Affirmations are statements that can support you in manifesting powerful change. Write or say these statements at any time (some people do so daily) and use them to support a shift in your consciousness or feeling state. It is important that the affirmations you select resonate with you, that is, that they feel natural and appropriate. In order to choose statements that feel right, you may need to change words in the statements listed here, or let these inspire you to create your own.

  • I relax knowing all in my life is well.
  • I know that I count and act as if I do.
  • I let go and trust that everything is happening perfectly.
  • I peacefully allow my life to unfold.
  • Every day I expand my comfort zone by allowing for risks.
  • Whatever happens in any situation, I know I can handle it.
  • I live my life to the fullest.
  • I expect good things to come to me.
  • I focus on my many blessings and have every expectation that my good will be met.
  • I create meaning and purpose with whatever life hands me.
  • I release all doubt and fear and move into a state of positive flow.
  • I accept myself as I am and create peace in my heart.
  • I am loved and safe.
  • I find value in all aspects of my life.
  • My faith lifts me above all fears.

Affirmations are used in hypnotherapy in order to reprogram the subconscious mind. By using them in your “awake” state, you are also accessing their power by allowing yourself to “hear” a new way to be. The purpose of using affirmations is to open to allow something healthy to become. In addition, they can help us shift our attention from less empowering actions such as “getting” or “taking,” to more freeing concepts, such as “receiving,” “accepting,” and “allowing.”

As you work more and more with affirmations, you can make them part of your daily life. Remember, you are already using statements or affirmations every time you think or speak. If your current thoughts are less helpful, you can intentionally change them to ones that will help you shift into a more meaningful life!

Your Spirit’s Journey

Your spiritual journey begins with this first step: Opening your heart to a sincere desire to renew the spiritual vitality of your life. Since it is truly a responsive universe, if you are sincere and open to your heart’s intuition, you will begin to see signs that point you toward your next step. You will begin to notice where you are investing your spirit—where you are being drained and where you are receiving a return on your investment.

The spiritual journey is also one of knowing that you have inside you what you are looking for. It is not about earning or acquiring something you don’t already have or about finding another person to complete you. It is about awakening to the spirit within you.

Three simple keys will help you to weave your spiritual journey into your daily life:

  1. Live your life wholeheartedly with as much conscious, loving presence as you can. Hold the intent that you can contribute to your own balance and bring a greater harmony to your own and others’ lives. Pay attention to where you are investing your energy and stop the “leaks” that cost you your spirit.
  2. Understand that spiritual practice is a path of deep relationships within your life. Begin your day by recognizing how you are connected to your spiritual principles, your friends, your family, and so on. Our relationships provide a mirror to us of ourselves.
  3. Have gratitude for the moments of “grace” that you experience daily. Don’t live your life waiting for something to happen so that you can start really living. Live your life fully right now in this moment and every moment. It will take conscious thought to do this. It will require that you respond rather than react to the events in your life and in your relationships. But, yes, it can be done.

Taken to heart, these simple steps can transform your life and allow you to “awaken your spirit within.”

Ignite Your Life

If you’ve been following Heartliving on Facebook, you know I’m currently teaching, counseling and healing others in Japan. Working internationally, Japan specifically, was one of my dreams, and many years prior to my first trip there, I repeated the mantra: “I desire to teach and help others internationally.” I never once thought that this would be NOT be possible, although I didn’t understand HOW it could happen. I didn’t get caught up in the logic of it–the “how’s.” I just set the intention, believed it would happen, and moved forward with directed action.

Forgiveness and Self-love

What is forgiveness and why is it so important to forgive to create heart harmony? The most simplistic definition of forgiveness is to stop feeling anger toward or to stop blaming someone who has done something wrong.  For those of us who have been pained by another person, particularly a person of a past relationship, to forgive may feel impossible. Many people hold false myths about forgiveness such as, to forgive means they have to forget. Is that true? NO, you may never forget. In fact, if something horrific happened to you, you are not likely to forget it, but you can forgive. And forgiving does NOT mean you are condoning what the person did to you. Also, forgiving does not mean that you have to verbally have a conversation with that person. You can go into your own heart and forgive without having any conversation with the other person at all.

In reality, when you forgive you are shifting your perception about what happened. You’re giving up any perception of victimhood that you were feeling by not allowing that person to have power over you. And by doing so, a space opens up from which you can live more fully.

So how do you forgive? At some point you have to retell the story in a more empowered way and be willing to let it go. Instead of holding yourself to be a victim, you must be able to witness a “bigger picture” than what you believe occurred. What did you learn from this experience? How did this event contribute to your overall growth and development?

Forgiving is about letting go of the past and deciding that you are now the hero and author of your life story. Forgiving is about comfort, kindness, and gentleness to your own soul. Above all, it about liberating yourself!
