Many religions in the world recognize angels as high spiritual beings.  In certain faiths, it is believed that everyone has a guardian angel who guides, protects, and loves each of us.

The belief that God sends a spirit to watch over each of us was common in Ancient Greek philosophy and was alluded to by Plato.  Passages in the Bible likewise support the concept of the angels who watch over us.

The following is a well known traditional Catholic prayer to one’s guardian angel:

Angel of God, my guardian dear

to whom God’s love commits me here.

Ever this day/night be at my side

to light, to guard, to rule and guide.

Amen.
